Table runner made with ice cream sticks

Table runner made with ice cream sticks

With a few wooden sticks, and very little time, you can make this colorful table runner covered in splashes of color.
I recently started to organize a baby shower for a friend, who will give birth in about a month. As he did not want to know the sex of the baby, we decided that the subject should be something neutral but colorful.

And this boardwalk inspired me. Instead of painting the sticks one by one, they were much better if splashes were improvised. It was very fun, and it required much less time. Also, I think it fits perfectly in the subject.

Materials and tools
Many wooden sticks (200 for each meter).
Painter's adhesive tape
Acrylic paints of various colors.
Thick brushes.
Paper to cover the floor and clothes that do not matter much.
Preparation of the sticks
Place the sticks on a table, aligned (not so perfectly) side by side, in two parallel rows. At the ends you can color one in the middle as a finish.
Use the adhesive tape to join them together. Use long strips to join each row, and then pieces to connect both rows in certain sections.
In a clear area, place papers on the floor and on top of your table runner, with the side of the ribbon facing down.
Dilute the acrylic paint with a little water so that it is very fluid.
Wet the brush and try different types of splashes:
For a round splash, drop the drop vertically.
For a kite-shaped splash, get close to the ground and move the wrist where the brush is to project the paint
Let dry and Ready!
You can take advantage of your diluted paints to make toothpicks with shading of colors.
