A great Halloween pumpkin made with stretched threads

Works of art with strings or wire are not exactly new. They were very popular in the 70s, but they enjoy renewed popularity, and they seem like a simple and fun way to make your own art at home.

This retro technique requires few materials and is an inexpensive way to add some personality to your spaces. It is ideal for beginners, because it does not require any special skills.

We take advantage that Halloween is already coming and we teach you how to make a great pumpkin using your hands, tense threads and a few minutes of your time. Combine it with other ideas, as in the case of fun masks for celebrations.

You will need to:

  • A square wood
  • Acrylic orange paint
  • Black rope
  • Nails
  • Paintbrush, hammer and scissors

Paint the wood with at least two coats of orange paint. Remember to let each layer dry before applying the next one.

When the paint is dry you can draw or print your favorite pumpkin silhouette. You only need to lightly mark the outline of the eyes, nose and mouth on the painted table

Using the hammer, insert the nails around the contour. Try to separate each nail at a constant distance from your colleagues.

Ready to string! Begin by tying the black string to a corner and delineate the outline of each part.

Once the outline is ready, you can string randomly until each zone is covered. To finish tie the rope to a corner and cut the excess.
